What does success look like as a parent? (picture needed)
I think one of the reasons it's hard to be a mom - particularly a stay at home mom - is because there aren't clear benchmarks for success. At a job you might earn a commission, a raise, or a bonus. In a sport you have clear measurements of how well you do and how you improve. In many hobbies, there is often a sense of accomplishment periodically - like when you finish reading a novel, knitting a scarf, or baking delicious treats. Even if it is small, it's much easier to feel successful when you accomplish these things or reach a milestone. As a parent, it can sometimes feel discouraging because there aren't clear accomplishments or signals of success. So we may feel like we're failing as a parent when we have a rough day. It's hard to feel confident when you don't know how well you're doing.
